Brooches remain one of our favorite vintage jewelry items, because they allow for incredible personalization of your style. After all, the mix you choose is something no one else can re-create. Mixing your favorite quirky motifs (like this cute poodle pup) with timeless pieces like pearls, florals and simple shapes, is a sure way to express yourself.
Brooches are actually quite versatile as they come in a range of different sizes. Mini sizes are perfect for lapels and collars while everyday and statement pieces are big enough to stand on their own.
And, here's a fun vintage fact: a brooch is defined by its size. Anything under 2" in length or width is considered a pin.
Fall is our favorite season to "Brooch it" because of the wide range of heavier fabrics and textures we have to work with. While the power of a single statement brooch will always be in style, this year, we especially love a collection of mini brooches on blazers and jackets. Here are our favorite ways to style a brooch for fall:

The Solo STATEMENT Brooch
1. Show off your favorite statement brooch alone on a chunky sweater or jacket. It's easy and effortless, but makes a big style statement. Similar to the gold leaf brooch above, here's another one of our favorites that can stand on its own when pinned to your top or outerwear.
Shop: white sunburst brooch
THE CENTERPIECE BROOCH
2. Try adding an everyday brooch to the center of a collar. And here's a styling secret: pieces with simple designs and fewer color variations, like the all white one above, are easier to pair with bold prints or tops with lots of color. You can think of the centerpiece brooch as the final embellishment to make a bold blouse even more personal.
Mix masculine and feminine
3. If you have a field, army or even moto style jacket, contrast the more masculine vibe of the outerwear with a cluster of feminine brooches (floral motifs and rhinestones welcome!). Experiment with the scale of the brooches, mixing one larger brooch with smaller ones around it. For more about curating your own collection, check out our how to guide!
Line 'em up!
4. An easy way to personalize your everyday blazer is to stack a series of mini brooches on the garment's lapel. In this case, we recommend sticking to similar shapes and sizes.
